Nilambur Town - Amazing Visiting Spot of the Kerala

Nilambur is situated on the banks of the Chaliyar River. It is also one of the most stunning town in the Malappuram district of the Indian state of Kerala. It It is at a distance of about 70 km from Calicut and 100 km from Ooty (Uddagamandalam). Nilambur is a small sleepy town has a surprise in store for its visitors who travel. It is an important halting place for tourist enroute to Ooty. Presently Nilambur taluk comprises 19 villages. Nilambur is also renowned for a cluster of kovilakoms the residences of the local rajas or rulers of earlier days. These structures are famed for their beautiful frescoes and artworks in wood. The streets of the town are surrounded with bamboo trees in both sides. Walking through these roads is in itself a delightful experience.

Conolly Plot is one of the most important spots in the town. The town is especially known for its teak plantation.

The Teak Museum is very famous and visitors from various places come to see this museum in Nilambur town. The museum reflects traditional and cultural aspects of the state.

The Nilambur Pattu an ancient festival which is noted for its Kalampattu or ritual powder drawing on floor falls in the month of February.
